Sorry, I renewed the let’s encrypt. I will try to automate that on a cron job or something so it doesn’t happen again. Cheers.

Sorry, I never did figure out how to do that either. I think the plantuml.com guys might be able to help better.

Yeah, the txt option does not always work. I notice hat all the time. This is not a planttext issue though. Planttext just sends the plantuml to the plantuml server. If it errors out with this stuff then it had some issue with the plantuml text or converting it to dito. Sorry, but planttext is just a GUI to plantuml. I do not have anything to do with the plantuml software that generates the images…or in this case errors in java. 🙁

Wow, great upgrade request. Sorry, I just haven’t had the time to do any development lately. I noticed that the custom server setting is not being maintained in the full website. I will fix that, but no promises on the Addon. I haven’t touched that in years.

Sorry, the server was hung for some reason. I rebooted it and it came right back up. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi, this is the developer of planttext. I am sorry for the inconvenience. I am very confused myself. I was not able to trouble shoot the issue while the problem existed because I was at work, but I sat down to figure it out today…and everything was just working. If you still have an issue please tell me what browser and version you are experiencing the problem with. Also, if you can try another browser to see if it works as well. Thanks.

Did you work on a different browser or computer? The documents are now saved in your specific browser’s local storage. If you are on a different computer or browser you will not see them because they are not saved on the planttext server. Just go back to the exact same computer and browser that you were using to create them and they should be there. The only thing that would cause the documents to get deleted is that the cache and local storage were cleared in the browser. Please let me know if you find them!!

OK, it is done and in production. Go to planttext.com and hit F5 to see the new button.

You can learn how to use it programatically here.

Everything you mention is already possible…

Look below the diagram and you will see a number of links PNG, SVG, TXT, and Edit. You can share the diagram by right clicking and copying the link. In all the links you will find that the diagram text itself is included in the URL as base64 encoded text. You can that the diagram in the first three links or share the link to Planttext directly opening your diagram. Let me know if I am missing something and you are trying to do something else. Cheers.

You can do all of the things you mention. Just take a look at the http://www.plantuml.com website. Cheers.

    Hi Mac,

Thanks. I am glad you enjoy Planttext, and I hope you do use it in your company.

Regarding security though, as I state in some of the documentation, I would not recommend using PlantText to work on or store any sensitive diagrams. The reason is that any diagrams you work on are being sent to the PlantUML server in order to create the diagram images. I am not affiliated directly with that project and can not promise that it is in any way secure. In fact the requests to that server are not secured over SSL.

But, if you install your own PlantUML server at your company and use it from PlantText.com, then it can be secure. You can read how to install your own PlantUML server here . You just need to explain to any of your users that they need to change the PlantUML server URL in the Settings page of PlantText. Once you do that, the server used to convert the PlantUML code to diagram images is on your own network. At that point PlantText is only being used to save your documents and all that communication is secured over SSL.

On a related note, I am starting to get back to PlantText development, and I plan to release a new version, which does not allow any more documents to be saved to my server. Instead, it allows users to store any number of documents locally in browser storage. This makes it even more secure because the documents stay within your network completely, as long as you install your own PlantUML server of course.

I do not have any commercial or enterprise license right now, but you could be the first for the right price!!! 🙂

I hope this helps. And let me know what you end up doing and if I can help out any more. You can email me directly at admin@planttext.com if you want to discuss any of this further. Perhaps a phone call even.

    Cheers,

    Arwen
